Change Requests
Document, assess and approve security-relevant change requests with clear risk, testing and rollback details.
A change request is the written record of a change to a system, a configuration or a process that could affect security: who asked for it, what it touches, how it was tested, who approved it and how it can be undone. It turns a quick fix into a decision someone can stand behind.
It matters because unplanned changes are a common source of outages and exposure. A firewall rule added in a hurry, a new integration switched on without review, a patch applied to production first: each is easier to defend when the request, the risk rating and the rollback plan exist before the work starts. Auditors and customers ask for exactly this record.
Begin with the changes that reach production systems or customer data. Agree a short form, a simple risk rating and one approver for routine changes and two for significant ones. Keep the log where the people doing the work already look. Joe can help you draft the form and the rating guide; your team decides the thresholds.
