Penetration Tests

Plan penetration tests, define scope and rules of engagement, and track findings through remediation.

A penetration test is an authorized attempt by skilled testers to find and exploit weaknesses in an agreed part of your environment, followed by a report that explains what they found, how serious it is and how to fix it. Planning the test well is most of the value: a clear scope, sensible rules of engagement and a plan for acting on the findings.

It matters because a test without a defined scope answers a question nobody asked, and a report that sits unread turns a good investment into a liability. Customers, insurers and frameworks increasingly expect regular testing, and they expect to see the findings tracked to closure.

Start by writing down what you want to learn: whether a new application is safe to launch, how far an attacker could get from a phished account, or whether last year’s fixes held. Define the systems in and out of scope, the testing window and who to call if something breaks. Joe can help you draft the scope and the rules of engagement; choose a qualified tester and own the remediation.
