Self Audits
Prepare audit readiness reports that show control status, evidence gaps and remediation priorities before an assessment.
A self-audit is an internal review of your controls against the framework or standard you expect to be assessed on, done by your own team before an external assessor arrives. The output is an audit readiness report: which controls are operating, which are partly in place, where the evidence is missing and what to fix first.
It matters because the worst time to learn about a gap is during the audit. A self-audit finds the gaps on your schedule, lets you fix the cheap ones quietly and gives leadership an honest picture of the expensive ones. It also trains your team to think like the assessor, which makes the real audit shorter and calmer.
Start with the scope of the coming assessment and the control list it uses. For each control, record the status, the evidence you can produce today and the owner. Be strict: “we do this but nothing is written down” is a gap. Then rank the remediation work by risk and effort. Joe can help you structure the review and the report; the findings are yours to act on.
